Loss of acceleration?

This is most often caused by a faulty coil, but can also be caused by the catalytic converter plugging up or the timing being off.
You can check the wires and coils by spraying some water on them with the engine running. If they are leaking spark, you will see it arcing and can change the faulty part.

With the engine running, take a spray bottle with some water in it and spray the ignition coils and spark plug wires. These are sealed and the water should not affect them. If it does, you will see the spark that should be going to the spark plugs, jump out and spark to the engine. This is called spark arcing or leaking. The water makes it easier for the spark to jump. The coils and wires are right on the top of the engine. There may be a cover that has to be removed to access them.

It is possible that the plugs are bad, just more common for the coil or wire to be the problem.

Coils are about $90 each, so not overly expensive.
If it is the timing belt, then that would be in the $350-$400 price range to replace.
The converter will be up to $500-$600 to repair.

Also one more possibility can be faulty fuel pump,
check the fuel pressure.

This could be a lack of  fuel pressure from the  pump at the tank.

If the connections to this are corroded or damaged then the pump could stop at any time or could not be running at full speed. Check that its relay switches in and out and the relay contacts are clean and bright – replace the relay if in any doubt and do the same for the fuse,
Ideally measure the pressure at the inlet to the main engine fuel pump and if this is low check the pump as described and also consider changing the fuel filter as if this partially blocked this too will reduce pressure.

If both of these are OK then also check the connections to the EGR valve, if either the vacuum pipe of electrical connection are damaged / corroded then the EGR can be on all time which certainly will hurt performance. Its also possible that its a fault with the EGR valve so its worth removing the valve and cleaning it out with brake cleaner, if it looks particularly clogged then replace it.

If this is OK then check the small vacuum lines for vacuum leak or vacuum hoses loose or cracked.

Getting this possibilities checked will help.
Thanks.
